DRIVING FAST CAR
PACIFIC NORTHWEST // 2013 - 2016

The "Driving Fast Car” is a reference to my father’s silver, 1967 Mustang convertible. Of course, as children, my sister and I didn’t have the language to call it a Mustang so we called it the “Driving Fast Car." I suppose it's fitting for a child to describe things rather than title them, to experience things rather than explain them.

This body of work explores the longing for home and the grief of losing it. The photographs contain images of my recently divorced parents and haunted Washington landscapes.

Eventually my father sold the Mustang and bought a car with more seats. My sister and I grew up and moved away from home. But I still feel connected to the driving fast car, as it seems my life is passing by faster than ever before and I don’t know how to slow it down.

I miss home but I don’t know where to find it.
